Yannis Triphyllis is a member of the 4th generation of the Efstathios G. Gourdomichalis (& Carras/Fatsis of Chios) shipping families.
Yannis studied International Relations and Economics at Harvard University, Cambridge MA 1990-94 where he received his BA “Cum Laude”, having earlier graduated “Magna Cum Laude” from Athens College, Greece in 1990. He recently received a diploma in the International Law of the Sea by IDIS, of Pandeion Univerity, 2023
He has been actively involved in shipping for the past 25 years, having served on the Board of family owned GOURDOMICHALIS MARITIME SA, as MD of ShipManagent Co. LYDIAMAR (part of the Aug. Bolten Group), and as a client of ARISTON NAVIGATION.
Yannis Triphyllis participates in the Board of several high level Maritime Institutions including the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, 2012 to date ( Executive Committee 2015-24), and the UK DEFENCE CLUB, 2008 to date. He is a member of the UGS Foreign Affairs Committee 2006 to date and has been repeatedly elected to the Piraeus Marine Club Board (2006-2021). He is serving his second term as Treasurer on the BoD of the Hellenic Maritime Museum , 2020 to date.
He has been a member of the ELIAMEP Advisory Board, 2018 to date, Greece’s foremost geopolitical think tank, and served on the Executive Committee of the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) from 2006-2012.
