MANAGER OF MARINE, CARGO & LOGISTICS PRACTICE – GREECE

Nikos has thorough knowledge of the international marine insurance market and its mechanisms (Hull, P&I and marine liabilities) including an in-depth understanding of the re-insurance arrangements and how it may affect rating of direct coverage. Moreover, he has thorough knowledge and understanding of the majority of Insurance Clauses (with specialization in Institute of London Underwriters) and their legal interpretation. His very good experience in marine claims of all nature (hull damage, pollution, collision, crew liabilities, cargo, charter party disputes, charterers’ liabilities etc.) and his excellent team and organizational skills brought him to the Team of Marsh Greece in November, 2017. Today, he is the leader of a five-member team. Through his experience as an insurance intermediary, he is used to dealing on a day to day basis with people from varying backgrounds with opposing interests. His main responsibilities in Marsh include Marine Insurance Broking (Hull/P&I/ Cargo/ Marine Liabilities/ Yachts/ Special Contingency Risks – K&R/ Crew PA etc.), Claims Advisory (Hull/ P&I – cargo, crew, collision, pollution, damage to 3rd party property/ Marine Liabilities/ War & Piracy/ General Average etc.) and Business Development.

EXPERIENCE

Nikos has gained valuable work experience working in various marine insurance broking facilities, before joining Marsh in 2017, including Trireme S.A. and M.A.RE. & Co, both in Piraeus as well as with the Lloyd’s Brokers Alexander Forbes Risks Services (now Lockton Companies) in London. He holds a Bachelor in Sciences (B.Sc.) with Honors in Shipping & Transport (London Guildhall University in collaboration with Business College of Athens (B.C.A.), Piraeus, Greece), a Master in Laws (LL.M.) in Maritime Law (University of Wales, Cardiff, United Kingdom) and a Certification in Marine Claims from The Lloyd’s Maritime Academy. He is qualified as an Insurance & Reinsurance Broker in Greece.
