A maritime law professional with 23+ years of experience in claims management, litigation, contract negotiation, complex casualty claims, and commercial shipping disputes.  Michael is currently serving as the Insurance & Claims Manager at IONIC overseeing all insurance and legal matters for both the dry and wet fleets.

Prior to joining IONIC, Michael was at the UK P&I Club and UK Defence Club, rising to Senior Claims Director.  In that role, he navigated complex civil and commercial litigation, with the focus being on fostering collaborative solutions and delivering optimal outcomes for stakeholders. Committed to advancing organisational goals through strategic claims management, leveraging a robust legal background to mitigate risks and enhance operational efficiency.

Michael has both a scientific and legal academic background having studied microbiology and law. Michael previously worked in London in a boutique shipping law firm before joining the shipping litigation department of an international law firm in Greece.

Beyond his legal and insurance work, Michael is active in the maritime community and charitable causes.  He is an avid sailor enjoying both cruising and taking part in races.
