Effie Koureta is a P&I Claims Director at NorthStandard, where she looks after the club’s Greek membership. She advises on a broad range of cargo, admiralty and pollution matters, combining deep claims expertise with long-standing industry insight.

Joining the club in 2017, Effie brings experience from both the London insurance market and a major Greek shipowning company. Since 2013, she has been closely involved in sanctions compliance, assisting members with the design of compliance programmes, and delivering tailored training.

Effie holds the International Group P&I Qualification and an Advanced Certificate in Managing Sanctions Risk from the International Compliance Association in partnership with the University of Manchester. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, she has also taught Marine Insurance Law at the Institute’s Greek branch for several years, supporting the next generation of maritime professionals.
